08 Sep EL SUSHI LOCO INVITES YOU TO CELEBRATE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH WITH AN INNOVATIVE MEXICAN-ASIAN FUSION CUISINE
Becoming an official Shokunin (sushi artisan)

Vesper Public Relations. Los Angeles, CA. (Septemeber 2025) –Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at El Sushi Loco, named “Best Mexican Sushi” by LA Weekly.
This comes on the heels of restaurateur and El Sushi Loco creator Frank Mendoza’s return from Japan where he spent weeks studying at the famous Tokyo Sushi Academy learning from Itame (a sushi master) to become an official Shokunin (sushi artisan).
El Sushi Loco History
Frank Mendoza purchased a street vendor food cart from a Craigslist ad. He paid $1200 and began selling his unique cuisine on the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. Mexican sushi is not your usual street food and was a hard sell to both Tijuana’s tourists and locals. The undeniably unique taste required a unique population of foodies for Frank Mendoza’s dreams to be fulfilled. In 2010 Mendoza pushed his cart across the border and into the United States, eventually setting up shop on the streets of Los Angeles. In its food-cart days, the Mexican-Asian fusion food concept was called Sushi Island, and Frank Mendoza, his wife, and his nephew developed the brand tirelessly, serving high-quality Mexican sushi and mariscos.
