Renowned Mexican Songstress Graciela Beltrán to be honored as this year’s Grand Marshal at the East L.A. Parade.
Graciela Beltran boasts a discography of well over 20 albums in a career that spans over 20 years. A beautiful songstress born in Sinaloa, Mexico, Beltrán is a pioneer and one of the most influential female voices, credited with helping shape Regional Mexican music as well as solidifying a woman’s place in the predominantly male-dominated genre.
As a world-recognized singer, Graciela appeared on important Latin American television programs like Sábado Gigante and Siempre en Domingo. Some years later, she released La Reina del Pueblo Con Banda featuring her own songs as well as some from the late Selena. The record was such a sentimental favorite that the press and fans dubbed Beltrán “La Reina del Pueblo” (“The People’s Queen”). As the popularity of Regional Mexican music grew across the U.S., so did Beltrán‘s – her shows are consistently sold out, and her releases have topped numerous Billboard Latin categories.
In its 66th year of running, the parade stands as a symbol of union and joy, having gathered hundreds of thousands of participants and attendees each year and expecting to do so again this year. In 2012, the parade celebrates Hispanic Heritage as well as the 81st anniversary of the formation of its organizer, Comité Mexicano CÃvico Patriótico, an institution that has stood as one of the pillars of the Mexican-American community inLos Angeles since its inception in 1931.
ABC Ch. 7 & Univision Network will conduct a live broadcast from the parade. La Opinión leading Spanish Newspaper, Radio Station Exitos 93.9, El Clasificado, and GOYA Foods will promote the parade with weekly ads. Plus Wells Fargo, Metro PCS.
