“We will never reveal ourselves,” says Urbano. “Cumbia power is in our masks.”

Vesper Public Relations. Los Angeles, October 29, 2013 – The self-proclaimed “heroes of rhythm”, EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA keep making noise with their unique musical rhythm that continues to keep everybody dancing at the drop of a hat!

For the third consecutive year, EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA shared its unique style, as this talented masked group made a triumphant red carpet entrance earlier this month at the Dolby Theatre for the prestigious Billboard Regional Mexican Music Awards.

But what about the fashion world? EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA made noise in the fashion industry too, by being named ‘Worst Dressed’ for the third year in a row by People En Español.com, a recognition they are definitely not losing sleep over, and, on the contrary, are amused by such a noble distinction.

The critics didn’t seem to notice that these masked heroes wore Hugo Boss and Dolce Gabbana suits with their luchador masks creating their unique style of cumbia rock fashion – a must for the EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA message that it is the music – not the masks that matter!

It’s worth noting that these extroverted heroes of Mexican music made their triumphant entrance on the red carpet by revving up on their Harley motorcycles to the joyful cheers of their adoring public!

The group is known for their humorous songs that make light of popular culture and often parody specific songs by contemporary Latin & American musical acts. In their three year career span, the band has developed a cult following through its tight instrumentation and gimmicky high-energy stage shows. When performing live, band members wear extravagant costumes and personalized Mexican wrestling masks to maintain their anonymity.

The Band’s music continues their takeover of Los Angeles, venue by venue, as people dance to their contagious rhythms all over town. The current single is the band’s original song “El Luchador”, a fun tune with a contagious and irreverent double entendre style that is the norm for this musical collective.

Originally from o City, EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA consists of leader and vocalist Urbano López, Luzio Nava on guitar, Primitivo Ríos on bass, Hipólito Madero on percussion, Tacho on timbales, and El Raio Manzares on keyboard.
