IN THE CATEGORY OF EMERGING FILMAKERS RECOGNIZED BY EVA LONGORIA & BETO CUEVAS

June 2017 – Carlos Hurtado was already renowned for his multiple national awards, now with his short film Dear Dad the Mexican American director/producer once again stands on a global platform at the Cannes International Festival 2017. Hurtado was officially one of the 25 finalists elected in the AMERICAN PAVILION Emerging Filmakers Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival 2017, representing the new generation of filmmakers. This short film was exhibited May 17 through May 28th, 2017.
“DEAR DAD” had a great reception by the public who enjoyed this personal production. Hurtado dedicated this film to an amazing organization called Padres Contra el Cancer / Parents Against Cancer – which helps so many children that have Cancer.

This powerful tale of persistence captivated viewers, and its powerful effect was not only felt among festival attendees, but among the 9 chosen winners of these most recognized awards in the film industry as well.
The participation of the Latin filmmaker in France, caused an immediate sensation among social media, especially in twitter/Instagram/Facebook; in where artists as actress EVA LONGORIA and the famous Latin Grammy Winner Chilean singer BETO CUEVAS, among others from the entertainment music, recognizes his talent and showed pride along with the organizers of PADRES CONTRA EL CÁNCER.

“DEAR DAD” has also recently been selected by a large number of premier film festivals and organizations such as the Cinequest Film Festival, American Cinematheque, Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Beverly Hills Film Festival which screened Dear Dad at the historic TLC Chinese Theater (originally Grauman’s Chinese Theatre). “DEAR DAD” also had the privilege to be screened at Dodger Stadium during a celebrity baseball game.
Previously in 2015, the multi winning director obtained the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Short Film with his documentary, HOLLYGROVE, and in that same year also won “Best Short Film” in the St. Tropez Film Festival.
His film making career has amassed 51 awards with over 117 Nominations from International & National film festivals.
