Top Latin Bands of Orange County Together in One Concert

Vesper Public Relations – Los Angeles, Monday, February 14, 2011 — In what is sure to be an unforgettable showing of collaboration in the midst of competition, the five bands nominated in the Best Latin category of the OC Music Awards will be performing together one night only this month to build solidarity and community in the city that supported them. ¡Aparato!, Taller Sur, Signa, Nancy Sanchez, and Renacer will take the stage – individually and all together – on Saturday, February 26 at 9 p.m. at The American Barber Shop, located on 320 E. 4th Street, Santa Ana, CA. Suggested donation for the concert is $10.

As the rising stars of the flourishing music scene in Orange County, these talents shine on their own. ¡Aparato! is a three-piece rock band led by female power singer Cat that delivers post-punk rhythms paired up with ethereal soundscapes that are both soothing and thought-provoking in songs like “Kriminal” and “Muralismo”. Members include Cat and Alexandro on vox, jaranas, and electric guitar and Chief Red Eye on drums and keyboard. www.reverbnation.com/aparato

Taller Sur’s members include Willy Ortega (vocals, lead guitar, charanga, percussion), Ruby Castellanos (vocals, guitar, charanga, maracas, tambourines), and Ibsan Romero and Alen Hansen on drums and percussion. The band that started out as a music workshop (taller means “workshop” in Spanish) for SoCal singer/songwriters offers a variety of fusion both musically and lyrically, and influences range from blues to trova. www.myspace.com/tallersur

The Rock En Español quartet that got its name from an angel in a Frank Peretti novel, Signa’s members aim to win over the souls of their listeners with profound lyrics wrapped in inviting, almost classically soulful rock music. The band is made up of singer and rhythm guitarist Humberto “Beto” Gudiño, lead guitarist Carlos Medina, bassist Abel Muñoz, and drummer Paul Droste. www.reverbnation.com/signa

One-lady-show Nancy Sanchez blends her Latin background with a uniquely modern style. Compared to such iconic classic voices as Billie Holiday and Joni Mitchell, Sanchez keeps you guessing as she brings out hues of contemporaries like Bjork into her songs. www.nancysanchezmusic.com

Renacer’s members are united by their love of music and a passion for God, making this their lyrical focus. The band is composed of Nick Gaggero (vocals, guitar), Jonathan Jimenez (drums), Fausto Hernandez (bass), and Franky Gonzalez (guitar). www.reverbnation.com/renacermusica
