(Los Angeles, CA)– Albert Torres Productions (ATP) and the worldwide 18th Annual LA Salsa Festa offers this year a variety of great music with stand-out performances by Salsa icons and dance contests. The superlative event that celebrates Salsa every year, will bring an exhilarating week of unparalleled Latin music, pool parties, social dancing and workshops for Latin music lovers.
The celebration begins on May 25 and runs through May 30, 2016 at the five stars Westin Bonaventure Hotel located at 404 South Figueroa St. in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.
This time, L.A. Salsa Congress brings its 18thedition with more flavors for the viewing public and participants including a special tribute to the recent passing of multi-instrumentalist, Johnny Polanco. A tribute of two sessions that will be presented with an eulogy off the sound track The Fast and the Furious, starting with two time GRMMY© Award Winner Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and closing the second session by special guests with Oscar Hernandez, Art Webb, Conjunto Amistad, Crespo Brothers, Frankie Vazquez, Herman Olivera, Jimmy Bosch, Ray de La Paz and Ray Ramos.
2012 OCMA Winners for Best Latin Band, THE BOOGALOO ASSASSINS are joining the celebration and showing how they perfectly represent the Latin Caribbean sounds of 1965 to 1969. An L.A. based 9 piece band that performs to the sound of R&B, Doo-Wop, Afro-Caribbean jazz and Salsa fusion, what the Dap Kings do to classic Stax soul.
Welcoming the return of tropical music royalty EL GRAN COMBO de PUERTO RICO will return to is returning to the magnum event. A career span of well over 50 years, EL GRAN COMBO will be delighting audiences with their great hits that made them international staple: “Ojos Chinos” (1964), “Brujeria” (1982), “Arroz con Habichuela” (2006) and more.
Los Angeles debut performance of the #1 European Bachata from Zurich, Switzerland GRUPO EXTRA. The group will delight everyone by performing at the pool party as well as a late night performance where they will open for to the sounds of modern Bachata, Merengue, Urban, Reggaeton, Kuduro, Hip Hop to Salsa.
R&B, hip-hop, and hints of traditional Dominican music of reggaeton and bachata that defines a unique dance style of “crunkchata” with the return of romantic and talented musician TOBY LOVE; a show that promises to make an unstoppable dance night with his bilingual repertoire of unique and modern Latin music.
Wrapping up this glorious weekend the return of Venezuelan Salsa icon OSCAR DE LEON, whose performances are unstoppable with no down time to breathe between songs, powering through uniting body and dance as one and demonstrating his singularity and sympathy. His amazing voice has conquered millions of hearts through his iconic songs as “Que Bueno Baila Usted,” “Yo quiero que tuvuelvas a mi,” “Detalles,” “Oye Como Va,” “En Mi Viejo San Juan,” “Ven Morena,” “Sigue Camino,” his personal pledge “Lloraras,” and many more.
