A Bicentennial and final ‘Descarga’, celebrating with norteño and mariachi talent including Nydia Rojas, El Potro De Sinaloa, and Mariachi Imperial

Universal City, CA. Thursday August 26, 2010. The fourth edition of Telemundo Eventos and mun2’s “Descarga” has reached its final stretch, having provided a series of eight concerts that were once again a huge success in Southern California, surpassing attendance records from previous years and positioning itself as one of the premiere free events in the region.

For four consecutive years now, the event has gathered and showcased the best Latin American recording artists in the country, with a commitment to bringing the cream of the crop to Los Angeles’s music-hungry audience.

As a grand finale, the “Descarga” stage will join in the celebration of the bicentennial anniversary of Mexican Independence from Spain and its establishment as a sovereign nation. Adding to the importance is another landmark date: This year’s independence also coincides with the 100th year anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, another milestone in the history of one of the largest minorities in the United States and particularly in California.

And what better way to celebrate this Bicentennial ‘Descarga’ than with norteño and mariachi sounds that will be represented by the young singer Nydia Rojas, as well as El Potro de Sinaloa, Mariachi Imperial de America, Regulo Caro, Noel Torres, and Los Buchones de Culiacan, all performing on Sunday August 29, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

At this celebration of ‘Descarga’, Nydia Rojas will make her appearance offering the public a very traditional presentation representing the rich culture that her family has showed her throughout her childhood. Nydia Rojas’ first album was released at the age of 15 in the U.S. and  has continued to release more albums since, including one with international star Juan Gabriel in a National Tour. Nydia continued to garner fans from Mexico, Germany and Japan, particularly after being nominated at the Grammy Awards alongside established luminaries Vicente Fernandez, Alejandro Fernandez and Pepe Aguilar.

The charismatic artist, El Potro de Sinaloa will bring to this patriotic ‘Descarga’ his ‘corrido’ rhythm with the new production “El Enemigo Publico”, which crossed borders with public acceptance in the US and Mexico and promises to make attendees dance with his romantic corridos and rancheras this coming Sunday.

Adding more flavor to this bicentennial ‘Descarga’ is Mariachi Imperial, providing traditional mariachi music. Mariachi Imperial has been in existence for over 25 years and is composed of family and friends from various regions of Mexico, including Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi. The group will also share a performance with Nydia Rojas. Mariachi Imperial will bring the energy of their trumpets, guitars, violins and more to the public to celebrate this last ‘Descarga’ 2010 with familiar sounds and nostalgic rhythms.

‘Descarga’ will also present three young ‘corrido’ talents: Regulo Caro, Noel Torres, and Los Buchones, spicing up this special Bicentennial ‘Descarga’ 2010 to become an unforgettable celebration.

Now in its 4th consecutive year, “Descarga” has solidified its status as one of the leading free outdoor music events in Southern California, drawing over 70,000 fans by having the pulse and cutting edge on the Latin music scene in the U.S., showcasing international as well as national musicians and discovering emerging talent pool of artists performing at an outdoor stage in CityWalk.

Since its inception in 2007, “Descarga” continues to build on its overwhelming success, delivering on its mission to provide Latino artists and audiences with the best in quality entertainment via a phenomenal promotional platform, becoming the must-play concert series for Latino artists touring in Southern California.

KVEA-TV, Telemundo’s affiliate station in Los Angeles, is a prominent partner of the “Descarga” concert series and will provide significant event coverage.

August 29:      Nydia Rojas, El Potro de Sinaloa, Mariachi Imperial, Penelope Menchaca & Yarel.
